Mary Ludgater Singlewoman Daughter of
Robert Ludgater sen?r. of Coggeshall Parua In ye County of Essex. ffelmonger. Having declarid their Intentions of taking each other in Marriage before seueral Publick meetings of ye People of God called Quakers in Halstid & Coggeshall magna In ye County of Essex according to ye good order used among them whose proceedings therein after a. delibrat. Consideration thereof (with regard unto ye Righteous. Law of God & Example. of this People recorded in ye Scriptures of Truth (?) In yt Caus were Aproued by ye said Meetings they Appearing clear. of all others, and havuing consent of Pearents & Relations & others therein concerned Non. these are to Certifie all home it may concern that for ye full accomplishing of their said Intentions this Thirteenth day of ye Seuenth month called September in ye year according to the English Accounts one Thousand Six Hundred ninety &. eight Thay The said Thomas Wyat & Mary Ludgater Afforesd. Both appred in a Publick Assembly of ye aforesaid people; & others met together for ye Purpose in their publick meeting . place at Coggeshall magna In the County of Essex & in. a solemn manner he ye said. Thomas Wyat taking the said Mary Ludgater by ye hand did openly declare as followeth Friends in ye Dread & in ye presence of ye Lord I Thomas wyat take this my ffriend mary Ludgater to be my wife ye. are my witnesses yt I promise by ye Lords assistance to be unto her A Loving & kind & tender Husband untill ye. Lord shall be pleased to Separate us by Death And then & there in ye said Assembley, ye said Mary Ludgater Afforesd did in like manner Declare as followeth ffrinds In the fear of ye Lord & in ye presence of this assembly whom I take to be my Witnesses I mary Ludgater take this my friend Tho: wyat to be my Husband Promising by ye Lords assistance to be unto him a Louing & faithfull Wife untill it please ye Lord to separate us by Death. And ye said Tho: wyat & Mary Ludgater Afforesd. as a further Confirmation thereof, did then & there to these presents set there. hands And we whose names are heareunto subscribed, being present among other, at ye solemnising of their said Marriage & subscription In Manner aforesaid as witnesses here unto, haue also to these presents subscribed our names ye day & year Have written.
