THIS IS THE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT of me JOHN MARCHAM of 169 Grosvenor Park Camberwell Surrey Retired Oilman I appoint my brothers James Marcham and Alfred Marcham and John Raley husband of my late cousin Helen Raley (hereinafter called my Trustees) to be the EXECUTORS and TRUSTEES hereof I give the sum of five hundred and forty pounds to my said brother James Marcham and release and forgive to him the sum of sixty pounds which I lent him some time since I give the sum of five hundred pounds to my brother the said Alfred Marcham I give the sum of one hundred pounds to Zipporah Annie Willis Housekeeper to my said Brother ~ Alfred Marcham I give the sum of five hundred pounds to my brother in law Thomas Eaton Wise I give the sum of one hundred pounds to my cousin Caroline Childs I give the sum of two hundred and fifty pounds to each of my cousins Charles Childs William Childs Henry Childs and Emily Collett I give the sum of three hundred pounds to the said John Raley I give the sum of two hundred pounds to each of them Clara Lydia Raley and Emily Ellen Hoskins daughters of the said John Raley I give the sum of two hundred and fifty pounds to my niece Louisa Fernyhough I give the sum of twenty pounds to each of my ~ tenants Caroline Imeson and Robert Charles Griffin I give the sum of three hundred pounds and all my plate linen glass china furniture pictures prints and other household effects unto my Housekeeper Jacintha Augusta Williams I give the sum of three hundred pounds to my Trustees Upon trust to invest in such manner as Trustees are by law allowed to invest trust funds and I declare that my Trustees shall hold the same and the investments thereof In trust to apply the income arising therefrom and so much of the capital as they may from time to time in their uncontrolled discretion think fit in or towards the support clothing maintenance education and apprenticeship of John Alfred Williams son of the said Jacintha Augusta Williams until he shall attain the age of twenty one years upon the happening of which event I direct my Trustees to pay the said sum of three hundred pounds or so much thereof as shall remain unappropriated to the purposes aforesaid to the said John Alfred Williams Provided that if the said John Alfred Williams shall survive me but die before attaining the age of twenty one years then I direct my Trustees to pay the said sum of three hundred pounds or so much thereof as shall remain unappropriated for the purposes aforesaid to the said Jacintha Augusta Williams absolutely I declare that all the foregoing legacies shall be paid and satisfied free from legacy duty which I hereby charge upon my residuary estate I give devise and bequeath all the rest residue and remainder of my estate and effects of whatsoever nature or kind and wheresoever situate unto my Trustees Upon trust to sell and convert the same into money and I declare that my said Trustees shall stand possessed of the proceeds of such sale and conversion and of the ready money of which I shall die possessed after payment thereout of my just debts funeral and testamentary expenses and the duties on the legacies hereinbefore bequeathed Upon trust for such of them the said James Marcham Alfred Marcham Thomas Eaton Wise Caroline Childs Charles Childs William Childs Henry Childs Emily Collett John Raley Clara Lydia Raley Emily Ellen Hoskins and Louisa Fernyhough as shall survive me and in equal shares if more than one I hereby revoke all former Wills and Codicils by me at any time heretofore made and declare this to be my last Will and Testament IN WITNESS whereof I have ~ hereunto set my hand this fourth day of February one thousand eight hundred and ninety seven – JOHN MARCHAM – Signed and declared by the Testator as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us both present at the same time and we at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses – GODFREY BOULTON M.A. Solr 21a Northampton Square E.C. – W.J.HOPPING His Clerk On the 26th day of May 1902 Probate of this Will was granted to James Marcham and John Raley the surviving Executors.
