I Benjamin Asher of Great Leonard Street in the parish of Saint Leonard Shoreditch in the County of Middlesex but late of Plumbers row Stepney Watch maker being of sound mind memory and understanding do make and declare ??? my last Will and Testament in manner following that is to say I give and bequeath unto my daughters Elizabeth Asher Esther Asher Lydia Asher and Sarah Asher one hundred pounds and fifty pounds stock in the three per cents in the Bank of England to each of them to be transferred to them when they resply attain the age of twenty one years or on the day of marriage independant of any husband whatever and with the benefit of survivorship if one or more of them die before they attain the age of twenty one years or are married I give and bequeath unto my Son Andrew Asher one hundred pounds stock in the three per Cents in the Bank of England I give and bequeath unto my two Sons Henry Asher and Isaac Asher one hundred and fifty pounds stock to each of them in the three per cents in the Bank of England to be transferred to my said three sons as soon as possible after my decease I give and bequeath unto my Son George Asher one hundred and fifty pounds stock in the three per cents in the Bank of England to be applied or transferred to or for him in any way or at any time my Wife Judith Asher shall think proper I then will and direct that my Executors hereinafter named immediately transfer unto my Wife Judith Asher as much stock out of the three per ce??? in the Bank of England as shall be fully [next word crossed out and illegible] sufficient for her to pay and all the expences incurred for my funeral the payment of all my just ??? [probably debts] and charges of proving and executing this my Will and also the legacy duty upon all the legacies before mentioned herein bequeath I then give and bequeath unto my Wife Judith Asher all those my two leaseholds messuages or Tenements situate in Leonard Street aforesaid together with all my household furniture and Chattels in my dwelling house at the time of my decease for her sole use and benefit] I further give and bequeath unto my said Wife Judith Asher the dividends and interest of all the other stock or funds in the Bank for and during the natural life and from and ~immediately~ [crossed through] after her decease I give and bequeath unto my said four daughters Elizabeth Asher Esther Asher Lydia Asher and Sarah Asher two hundred pounds stock in the navy five per cents in the Bank of England to each of them I give and bequeath unto my Son Andrew Asher one hundred pound stock in the Navy five per cents in the Bank of England the said Stock to be transferred to my said daughters independent of any husband whatever I give and bequeath unto my two Grandsons Joseph and Moses Asher Children of my Son Andrew one hundred pounds stock each in the three per cents in the Bank of England to be transferred to them when they respectively attain the age of twenty one years I give and bequeath unto my Sons Henry Asher Isaac Asher and George Asher all the rest and residue of my personal estate and effects whatsoever to be equally divided between them share and share alike and I hereby nominate and appoint my said Wife Judith Asher Executrix and my said Sons Henry Asher and Isaac Asher Executors of this my last Will and Testament and I further will and direct that the further sum of ten pounds stock in the said three per cents be transferred to my Wife to be given by her between a few friends as small tokens of respect and remembrance at her discretion and I hereby revoke and make void all former Wills and other testamentary dispositions whatsoever In witness whereof I Benjamin Asher the Testator have set my hand unto the first and second sides of this my Will and my hand and seal unto this side hereof the twenty sixth day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty one Benjm Asher LS Signed sealed ~published~ and delivered by the Testator as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us as Witnesses hereunto Wm Stanley (?) I Judith Asher of Westmoreland place City Road in the County of Middlesex Widow being of sound mind memory and understanding do make this my last Will and Testament in manner following that is to say First I direct that all my just debts funeral and testamentary expences may be paid as soon as convenient after my decease I give devise and bequeath unto my two sons Henry Asher and Isaac Asher and the survivor of them and the executors and administrators of such Survivor all my leasehold estates In trust that as soon after my decease as convenient they make sale and dispose thereof for the best price that can be gotten for the same and pay the proceeds of such sale after executing my will in other respects by satisfying the bequests hereinafter contained in equal shares and proportions between and amongst my children Andrew Asher Henry Asher Isaac Asher George Asher Elizabeth the wife of Asher Benjamin Esther the Wife of Alexander Levy Lydia the Wife of John Nelson Abbott and Sarah Asher share and share alike and in case any of my said children should die before my decease then the share or shares of such child or children so dying shall belong to his or her child or children if any in equal proportions but if none then such share or shares shall belong to the survivor or survivors of my said children in equal proportions And I direct my said trustees and trustee or the survivor of them to sell my plate and pay and divide the proceeds thereof along with the proceeds of the sale of my said leaseholds in like manner therewith [section crossed through and illegible. In margin:] ^Orig.l so^ and benefit I give and bequeath unto my daughter Sarah Asher all my household furniture linen china and wearing apparel I give and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth Benjamin one pair of diamond earrings one pair of gold bracelets and brooch to correspond I give and bequeath unto my daughter Esther Levy one gold neck chain her late father's miniature picture therewith and a small diamond ring I give and bequeath unto my daughter Lydia Abbott my gold watch and gold chain and seals thereto appended I give and bequeath to my Son Henry Asher my large diamond ring I give and bequeath unto my son Isaac Asher my second size diamond ring I give and bequeath to my son Andrew Asher my third size diamond ring I give and bequeath to my son George Asher my diamond pin I give devise and bequeath unto my said trustees and trustee and the trustees or trustee for the time being All the Rest Residue and Remainder of my personal estate and effects In trust to make sale and dispose of such part thereof as doth not consist of cash and add the proceeds of such sale together with all my ready money unto the proceeds arising from the sale of my said leaseholds and stand possessed thereof upon the like trusts as are hereinbefore specefied [sic] in respect to my said leaseholds And I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint the said Henry Asher and Isaac Asher Executors of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former and other Wills by me at any time heretofore made And I do declare this to be and contain my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I the said testatrix Judith Asher have to this my last Will and Testament contained in this one sheet of paper to the first and second sides thereof set my hand and to this third and last side thereof set my hand and seal this eighteenth day of February in the year of Our Lord One thousand eight hundred and thirty two

Appeared Personally Isaac Asher of Westmoreland Place City Road in the County of Middlesex Dentist and being sworn to depose the truth made oath as follows that he is the son and one of the executors named in the last Will and Testament hereunto annexed of Judith Asher late of Westmoreland Place City Road aforesaid Widow deceased the said Will bearing date the eighteenth day of February in the Year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and thirty two and he further made oath that on the thirteenth day of May last being the day of the deceaseds death Sarah Asher the deponents sister handed to him the said Will which was then enclosed in an envelope and sealed up that he did not at that time open the said Will but that some short time after the deceased's funeral he in the presence of the said Sarah Asher and of Henry Asher his Co Executor broke the seal of the Envelope in which the Will was enclosed and he then read the same and he then particularly observed that the legacy of ten pounds to the deceased's servant Mary Lee has been struck through with a pen on part of the fourth and part of the fifth lines from the bottom of the first side of the said Will as the same now appears and he further saith that the said deceased about fifteen months previous to her death discharged the set Mary Lee from her service and she the deceased afterwards informed the deponent that she has crossed out the legacy to the said Mary Lee in the said Will and he lastly saith that the said Will is now in every respect in the same plight and condition as the same was in when he so as aforesaid opened it save that the Jurate hath since been written thereon Isaac Asher On the 7th day of July 1835 the said Isaac Asher was duly sworn to the truth of this Affidavit Before me W. This is the last Will and Testament of me Isaac Asher of Dalby Terrace City Road in the County of Middlesex Dentist I give and bequeath unto my brother Andrew Asher the sum of one hundred Pounds three Per Cent reduced annuities Portion of the Stock standing in my own separate name at the Bank of England I also give and bequeath unto my brother George Asher a like sum of one hundred pounds reduced annuities and a like sum of one hundred pounds reduced Annuities unto my sister Elizabeth wife of Mr Asher Benjamin I also give and bequeath unto each of my Sisters Sarah Asher Esther wife of Alexander Levi and Lydia wife of John Nelson Abbot of Saloiiiiia the sum of fifty Pounds like reduced Annuities And I declare and direct that the several legacies hereby given to my said Sisters respectively shall be for their sole and separate use and benefit and shall not be liable to the debts control or engagements of their said present or any future husbands with whom they respectively may happen to intermarry I give and bequeath unto my friend and Partner Mrs Hannah Wells the sum of ten Pounds sterling I give and bequeath unto my Servant Mary Ann the sum of ten Pounds and to my servant Lucy the sum of five Pounds Also to Mrs Allen my former Nurse residing in Spitalfields the sum of three Pounds ^[Note in margin:] Interlined in the Original^ I give and bequeath unto my said sister Sarah Asher my leasehold dwelling house and Premises in Dalby Terrace wherein I now reside with the fixtures therein ^and also all my household furniture plate linen china and pictures likewise therein^ I give and bequeath unto my brother Henry Asher my leasehold house and Premises in Raven Row all my wearing Apparel and also Jewellery Watches Stock in Trade and all my share and interest in the Business and Stock in Trade of the Partnership carried on by me and the said Mrs Hannah Wells and I direct that the several legacies herein before given shall be paid assigned and transferred free from legacy duty and from all Costs and Expences whatsoever which Duties Costs and Expences I direct shall be paid out of the residue of my Personal Estate [And as to all other my Monies in the Public [end of page] Public Stocks or Funds Leasehold Estates outstanding Debts owing to me and all and singular other my Personal Estate and Effects whatsoever and wheresoever (subject to the Payment thereout of my just debts funeral and testamentary expences and the several legacies hereby given or which I may give by any Codicil or Codicils hereto) I give and bequeath the same and every Part thereof unto my brother Henry Asher and my Sister Sarah Asher in equal shares and proportions as tenants in common and for his and her own absolute use and benefit And I hereby nominate and appoint my brothers Henry Asher and Andrew Asher Executors of this my will And I hereby revoke all former and other wills by me at any time heretofore made and declare this alone to be my Last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my and and seal this seventh Day of September One thousand eight hundred and thirty seven - Isaac Asher (LS) - Signed sealed Published and declared by the said testator Isaac Asher as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who in his presence at his request and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses G W Armstrong Solr Red Lion Street Clerkenwell W J Bond his Clerk
